RELICS: Fr. Brown writes; I’ve been asked what the small objects between the candlesticks are. These are reliquaries.
I acquired a number of relics from the Vicariate at Rome (with
authentication) over the years. They are pieces of bone of St. Wilfred, St. Oswald, St. Thomas Becket, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Pius V and St. Therese of Lisieux although only frou are displayed at any one time. It is traditional to put out the relics on the altar on major feasts such as Pentecost and they give us a awareness of the
Saints joining our prayers around the throne of the Lamb as depicted in the Book of Revelation.
Una and the Humble family would like to publicly thank Fr. Brown and the parishioners of St. Mary’s for mass cards, cards and letters of sympathy and especially their prayers, support and love during Ernest’s illness and death and the wonderful attendance on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. God bless you all.
The fantastic sum of £500. was donated for DePaul Trust
North East.

GAS BILL: While we did have a very severe winter the gas bill for the parish has reached new levels. Last month it was £1200. This month it is £1600. This means all our offertory collections last month were only enough to pay the gas bill. Please think twice before switching on the heaters. They are designed to be effective quickly so please don’t put them on hours before they are needed.
HALL BOOKINGS: Anyone wishing to book the hall must complete a booking form with full details, bookings for the hall will not be accepted without a booking form having been completed. Please include a telephone number so we can contact you to let
you know if the hall is available at the time and date you wish to
hire it. Hire of the hall is £15 per hour which includes use of facilities of kitchen etc. Forms can be found in the hall and in the front porch of the church.
